Edge factory -Manufacturing as Infrastructure

Instead of a few centralised mega-factories serving the entire world, production is moving toward a network of distributed micro-factories operating on a shared digital platform. Factories are becoming deployable infrastructure — replicable, scalable, and digitally managed.

The shift is already underway in automotive and consumer electronics. Semi-finished components ship globally; final assembly happens close to the end market. The edge factory model takes that idea further: standardise the factory itself, not just the product.
